My name is Mr. H and I would like to welcome you to my online classroom. You will be able to access the common core state standards that align with your Florida Standard Assessment. Not only will you find the 10 Reading, 10 Writing, and Speaking/Listening standards, but you will have access to the Marzano Scales that will allow you to self-assess your progress with each standard. Please utilize this webpage by completing the assignments linked to each standard.

The purpose of this webpage is for you to be able to easily organize and self-monitor your level of understanding for English I and II in the state of Florida.

Each standard has a scale that breaks down what the learner must be able to do in order to achieve proficiency per standard. Understanding the language of the scales is imperative to be able to self-monitor your progress through this course. Here is a simple breakdown of each section of a scale.

Level 4 = Above and Beyond

Students can create their own scale using state standards.

Level 3 = Target Level

Student can navigate a teacher-created scale and use it to self-monitor his/her progress.

Level 2 = Breakdown to achieve target level

- Define difficult words within the scale

- Explain objective of the standard

- Understand what the 4 Levels represent

- Self Rate his/her understanding based on level descriptions

- Self-Assess progress towards achieving target level

Level 1 = Below Target Level

Student can only navigate scale with teacher assistance.

Sample Scale, looks easy enough, right? laugh

“If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.”
- Albert Einstein

Using the scales and standards as a learning tool.

Each standard has a scale, each scale has learning objectives, each learning objective will have assignments attached that will resemble Level's 1, 2, 3, 4.

►Level 1 is the easiest of the tasks and Level 4 is the most difficult.

With that being said, Level 3 is the target level. If you can achieve Level 3 assignments, then you should perform well on your Florida Standard Reading and Writing Assessment.
